Getting to the terminal at Dieppe
The ferry departs from the Gare maritime de Dieppe on Quai Gaston Lalitte, close to the town centre. Coming from Paris and Rouen, you reach Dieppe via the A13 and the A151, or the N27; from Belgium and northern France, via the coastal motorways A16 and A28. Dieppe has regional rail links to Rouen and on to Paris Saint-Lazare; foot passengers check in at the terminal and leave large luggage over 56 x 45 x 25 centimetres at the onboard luggage storage.
Check-in and departure
Check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. During peak season, DFDS recommends arriving at the port 90 minutes before check-in closes, to get through security and border control without rushing. On board
DFDS operates the Côte d'Albâtre and the Seven Sisters, both recently refurbished. All passengers have access to reclining seats in the lounge, and a private cabin can be booked for a surcharge, which is worthwhile especially on the overnight crossings. On board there's a restaurant serving breakfast, hot meals and a children's menu, a bar with floor-to-ceiling sea-view windows, a duty-free shop and a play area with video games. Priority boarding can be added per vehicle and crossing.
Vehicles, bikes and pets

Foot passengers are welcome on this route, and whether a bicycle can be booked is shown in the booking window for your date. There are three options for pets: the animal can stay in the vehicle, or you can book one of the five onboard kennels or one of the three four-berth pet cabins with bunk beds and a sea view; kennels and pet cabins are also open to foot passengers, and a dedicated outdoor area is set aside for exercise. Arrival in Newhaven and onward travel
In Newhaven, the ferry docks at Newhaven Ferry Port on Rail Approach. From there, the A26 leads to the A27 along the south coast: Brighton is around 20 minutes away, and London is a few hours via the A23 and M23. Foot passengers will find Newhaven Harbour station next to the port, with trains to Brighton and Lewes; for London, change at Brighton or Lewes. DFDS offers an Economy ticket and a flexible Premium ticket: Economy can be rebooked for a fee and allows travel up to four hours earlier or later, but is non-refundable if cancelled; Premium can be rebooked for free, used up to 72 hours earlier or later, and cancelled up to 48 hours before departure. Seniors aged 60 and over, students aged 18 to 27 and passengers with disabilities get a discount on the crossing, available only by phone or at the terminal and not including cabins or pets. The Dieppe - Newhaven route connects the Normandy port town with Newhaven in East Sussex in around 4 hours, up to three times a day; a few overnight crossings take 5 hours. DFDS is the only operator on the route and runs the Côte d'Albâtre and the Seven Sisters.
This route suits travellers arriving via Paris: Dieppe lies around 60 kilometres north of Rouen, and from Newhaven you're a 20-minute drive from Brighton and just a few hours from London. Unlike the Dover routes, foot passengers can travel here too.
