ukferries.com is an independent comparison and information site for the ferry connections to England. It covers the short Channel crossings from Calais and Dunkirk to Dover, plus the North Sea routes from the Netherlands and Belgium to Newcastle, Hull and Harwich. The routes are operated by several ferry companies, among them DFDS, P&O Ferries, Irish Ferries, Stena Line and Brittany Ferries.

The phrase ferry to England covers two quite different purchases. The Channel routes are a shuttle: Calais to Dover in about ninety minutes, Dunkirk in about two hours, sailings through the day, no berth to book, and you drive off much as you drove on. The North Sea routes are ships you sleep on: eleven to twelve hours from Rotterdam to Hull, sixteen to seventeen from Amsterdam to Newcastle, with a cabin that comes as part of the ticket rather than as an extra. The first is a way of getting across a strait. The second is a way of putting a night and a long stretch of the map behind you at the same time, and it is booked, priced and planned accordingly. We set out both kinds, route by route, with the ports at either end, the crossing times and the operator on each, so the sailing you book matches the trip you are really making.

We are not an England travel guide and not a hotel portal: we deliberately leave out sights in England, hotel bookings, flights and car rental.
